Problem

Looking for a list of outgoing SMTP servers?

Solution

To send email from an email client like Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail, you need to configure an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server. This server handles the outgoing mail for your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Managed Service Provider (MSP). However, each ISP and MSP uses their own specific SMTP settings (such as server name, port number, and authentication requirements) which must be entered correctly for successful email delivery.

To help you get started, we've compiled a comprehensive list of SMTP settings for many popular ISPs in the UK and Internationally, but of course if there is one missing then please let us know. There is an add button at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, you can avoid ISP limitations by using a third-party SMTP service like outMail, which offers improved deliverability and seamless performance across all devices.

dont forget outMail is a UK SMTP service

Although this page is focused on outgoing SMTP server information, where available we have added the incoming (POP3 and IMAP) details as well.

outMail is an outgoing SMTP relay service also known as an SMTP SmartHost service. For email clients its often referred to as the outgoing mail server (SMTP) or just SMTP server.

  SMTP 465 Auth, SSL
  SMTP 587 Auth, StartTLS, SSL

Notes

Of course we would put outMail at the top of the list when its our service ;-)

outMail has published SPF records, and supports DKIM signing. outMail is an authenticated service offering SMTP on ports 25, 465, 587, 2525 & 8025. outMail also supports sending emails via RESTful API and also supports Microsoft 365 as a send connector.

mxXXXXX is an assigned server, so you need to refer to your welcome documentation for the exact information or look it up in the management portal.

FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions relating to ISP SMTP settings.

An SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server is responsible for sending emails from your email client (or server) to the recipient's email server.

Proper SMTP configuration ensures your emails are sent successfully and reduces the likelihood of them being marked as spam.

To further increase your emailing reputation it's important to setup a SPF & DMARC policy, and also consider DKIM signing outbound emails.

Yes & No.

Yes, services like outMail offer SMTP servers that can be used regardless of your ISP, providing more flexibility and reliability.

No, most ISPs lock their SMTP services down for the use of their endusers only. So you couldn't use a different ISPs SMTP server. You would either need to use your own ISPs SMTP settings or a service like outMail.
